Origin
The word grog originally referred to the daily ration of rum and water sailors in the British Navy were given each day during the Age of Exploration. The term later became popular in describing various concoctions served at tiki bars in the 1940s. Our recipe is, as you would expect, a tasty combination of aged rums, citrus, a shot of fizz, and, of course, a sprig of decorative garnish.
Ingredients & Recipe
- ¾ oz. Ten to One Rum
- ¾ oz. Appleton Estate Signature
- ¾ oz. Hampden 8 Year
- ¾ oz. lime juice
- ½ oz. grapefruit juice
- ½ oz. cinnamon syrup
- ¼ oz. demerara syrup
- ¼ oz. Antica Torino Rosso Vermouth
- 1 grapefruit peel, expressed into shaker and tossed into shaker
Shake all ingredients. Pour and top with club soda.
