The Iconic Oxford Shirt is rated out of 5 by 449.Rated 4 out of 5 by JW from Polo Ralph Lauren men's oxford button-down shirt I purchased the men’s button-down oxford-cloth shirt (size XL, slim fit) in crimson/white from the RL website. The color matches the online description, but the physical item is slightly darker than it appears in the photos. The product images for all sizes, fits, and colors of RL oxford shirts consistently show tonal collar linings matching the shirt fabric. However, some images for the XL slim fit in crimson/white display a striped white collar lining instead. Since I wanted the shirt with a tonal lining, I contacted RL customer service for clarification. While they were polite and tried to assist, they couldn’t confirm which version would be shipped. The RL store on Prince Street in NYC provided additional insight, suggesting that newer collections would likely feature striped collar linings, but they, too, couldn’t guarantee which version I’d receive. Fortunately, the shirt that arrived had the preferred tonal collar lining. The shirt was delivered slightly ahead of schedule and was packaged in a sturdy cardboard box. However, the plastic bag containing the shirt was torn in at least two places, and it appeared that the shirt had been removed, unfolded, refolded, and placed back inside. Additionally, one of the collar buttonholes was poorly made and smaller than the other. Aside from this defect, the rest of the shirt was in good condition. As for fit, I’m 5’11” with a slim build and a 36.5” sleeve length, which makes finding a well-fitting RL shirt difficult. Size M fits nicely in the body but is much too short overall, especially in sleeve length. Size L provides more room but remains too short. The XL slim fit is the best compromise, offering sufficient length in both sleeves and overall fit while maintaining a fuller yet still trim silhouette through the body. The collar, however, is slightly too large for my frame. Despite this minor issue, it’s the best option given my measurements. Overall, ordering from RL’s website is straightforward, and items generally align with their descriptions.
