The natural colors of open landscapes have always inspired Ralph Lauren’s creative vision. There are the sandy shores and weathered shingles of Montauk. Or the crystal waters and clean white lines of his Round Hill retreat in Jamaica. For the long days and warm haze of the season, two new salt-sprayed destinations can serve as a refresh of visual inspiration. Across both, you’ll find the calm expanses of a late-summer destination—and the gauzy shades of pale ivory, bright white, and washed blue that create the perfect palette for an August vacation.

Lençóis Maranhenses

---

Brazil

Stretching across 40 miles of Brazil’s northern coast, the sweeping dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses create a layered tableau of summer color: ivory sand, pale blue skies, and the softly hued horizon in between. Hiking, horseback riding, off-roading, and boating in the deep valleys between the dunes, filled with rainwater to become lagoon oases, are all on offer—inspiring a wardrobe of utility-tinged vacation style.

Camargue

---

France

Near to the countryside charm of Provence and just south of the artful and historic city of Arles, you’ll find the wild coastline of Camargue, with cream-colored beaches rich in wildlife. Native flamingos and wild horses dot the shores, while the mineral-rich seawater, famed for its prized fleur de sel, creates a watercolor palette of pink waters, white salt marshes, and crisp blue skies. The perfect je ne sais quoi of corresponding vacation style is tailored, elegant, and casually detailed: soft-hued and softly tailored suiting, bright silver accessories, beach-ready espadrilles, and sophisticated leather luggage to see you on your way.
