I only unbutton the top two buttons then pull the sweater over my head. I have not tried unbuttoning. I also do not wear a shirt or bra underneath and it is thick enough there is nothing poking through. Buy it in your size for a fitted single layer look, or make sure to size up for a classic cardigan feel. I ordered in my regular size small. Dress size 4. I layed the sweater flat on a mesh rack for drying. The color ran. The sweater is now noticeably streaky. It has dark stripes. I cannot wear it now.
