I normally wear a size 4 - 6 in dresses. I tried on a 4 at the store and it was way too long and small everywhere else. Ordered a 6P online and could only zip it up half way and the part around the neck was extremely tight. Returned it and ordered a size 10P and it fits. I will need to get it hemmed at the bottom a bit. I have never had to buy a dress that many sizes bigger than my normal size. It’s definitely something about the way the top half is made.
