Rule No. 4

Shift Your Fit

You deserve a bigger cut.

Slim. Tapered. Tailored. There are occasions for all these qualities. But there is also a time for the longer hem, the extended shoulder, and the wider leg. Whether tailored or casual, when clothing is cut for a looser silhouette it allows the fabric to properly drape. It’s a difference that makes for a more elegant appearance, no matter how formal or casual the material and make, from wool-blend flannel to tweed to denim. It also taps into the original history and purpose of sportswear, when blazers worn by rowers or thee-piece tweeds donned by fly-fisherman were cut so that they ensured a maximum range of motion for the wearer—a practicality that also plays out in more modern kit like fleece pullovers and jeans.
